6/9/08 The distance races were loaded at Pre this year. Brief recaps and our analysis below. Other meet highlights included an American record in the pole vault by Brad Walker (19' 9"), Adam Nelson throwing 72'7" in the shot, and high schooler Jeff Demps being third in the 100m. Full Recap: AFP Full Meet Pre Recap Men's Mile: Korir Wins, Willis Impresses and Alan Webb?????? We've never seen Alan Webb run more tentative as he was running in the back from the gun and lost contact before the bell. Good news is he didn't quit, but we wonder why he made his 2008 debut here (unless Nike made him), if he was going to run knowing he was going to get beat. 3:55.47 is not bad for a debut, but it's slower than he ran in high school and we didn't see Webb's usual confidence.
