Insiders look - Pre-meet Press Conference room at Prefontaine Classic 2007
Published by
Filmed on 6/9/07 - Eugene, OR - This 360 degree shot gives you a look at the pre-meet press conference at the Valley River Inn in Eugene, OR the day before the Prefontaine Classic. Meet director Tom Jordan decided to introduce the athletes first, then have them seperate into chairs located in the corners of the room where media could approach them and ask questions of them individually. This significantly cut down on the time the event took to complete and increased the availability of the athletes (hence my 20 minutes with Alan Webb!) as all the athletes could essentially talk at once rather than answer questions one at a time from the podium. Outside the conference room was media packet pickup, with a few giveaways (water, candy bars, meet programs, posters, etc.). A seperate room in the hotel provided packet pickup for athletes, and the ballroom was set up for an athletes-only breakfast. Sitting in the lobby of the hotel for a few minutes, one could see countless Olympic and World Championship medallists walk by! Video by Kevin Ullman |
