Semenya to run in USA in June

Caster Semenya will compete at the Prefontaine Classic Diamond League meet on June 4 in Oregon, her manager said on Monday.

Jukka Harkonen, who is based in Finland, said the 800-metre world champion will return to the top circuit in Eugene, Oregon, and is also hoping to run at the Bislett Games in Oslo five days later.

The 20-year-old Semenya - who won the 800 and 1,500 at the South African nationals on Sunday - will make her first appearance outside her home country this season at the IAAF World Challenge meet in Dakar, Senegal, on May 28, Harkonen said.

Semenya began the buildup to her season with an impressive double at the South African championships in Durban after shaking off the back injury that prevented her from competing at last year's Commonwealth Games.
