Taylor, Claye Headline Pre Classic Triple Jump FieldPublished by
American Duo Ready to Shine Bright in EugeneBy Scott Bush, DyeStat Editor Team USA stars Christian Taylor and Will Claye are ready to take on the world at the Prefontaine Classic in late May, as they headline the men's triple jump field, the event announced Monday. The duo finished 1-2 at the Rio Olympics last summer, building on their international dominance in the event. They'll be joined by Rio bronze medalist Bin Dong of China, adding more talent and depth to the seven-man field. For Taylor, 2017 offers another opportunity to add to his growing legacy. The 26-year old already owns two Olympic gold medals, as well as two World Championship gold medals. He ranks second on the all-time list with a best of 59-9 (18.21m), nearly eclipsing Jonathan Edwards' world record of 60-0.25 (18.29m) in 2015. Taylor owns four of the top 10 jumps of all-time and clearly has the world record in his sights once again this season. Taylor gets his 2017 season underway this coming weekend at the Pepsi Florida Relays, where he'll be competing in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays. More news |
