Centrowitz out for Saturday's Prefontaine Classic By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor EUGENE -- Prefontaine Classic meet director Tom Jordan announced Friday that Matthew Centrowitz was a scratch for Saturday's mile at Hayward Field. Centrowitz, who won the Olympic gold medal in the 1,500 meters at the 2016 Olympic Games, has been ill all week, Jordan said. Centrowitz ran an impressive time of 3:33.41 in the 1,500 meters May 18, when he defeated Mo Farah at the USATF Distance Classic at Occidental College in Los Angeles. |
